“You know those girls everyone loves to sh*t all over? The ones who really f*cking love something? Those girls, man. They take all that energy, all that circulating fire in their veins, and instead of letting it destroy them, they choose to love, ferociously. Be it a band, or a book, or a series of films. They do it to keep themselves sane, and yet we mock them for it. Teenage girls find a buoy for themselves in the sea of emotional ruin, and they hold on tighter than anyone else.”

I found this on Tumblr today and at first I didn't get it. Later in the day, I saw it again and for some reason it was then that I found it really related to me. I'm 14 and a bit of a fangirl, you know Doctor Who, Sherlock, Hunger Games, etc. However, my parents and people around me on a daily basis judge me for it. They tell me it's just a television show, band or movie, but if I didn't put my emotion into that where would I be? Drunk, suicidal and amidst a mental breakdown? I'm glad I'm not there. I can handle the judging even though it hurts because it means I can still be who I am.
So if you have a teenager in your life be grateful for them. Remember when you were like them.
If you are a teenager I hope you have something to put your energy into and if not find something. Remember that people who mind don't matter and people who matter don't mind (Dr. Seuss).
BE YOURSELF, DON'T TAKE ANYTHING FROM ANYONE AND NEVER LET THEM TAKE YOU ALIVE.
